Julie Corne was one of the early leaders in the Jog Derbyshire project, setting up Jog Duffield in April 2012, and obtaining both Leadership and Coach qualifications to enable her to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with her group. Over 13 years, she has continuously run at least 3 sessions per week, and positively impacted the lives of more than 220 group members.

Working with the Jog Derbyshire team in 2012, she also took responsibility (with fellow Jog Derbyshire leader, Helen Purdy) for running a monthly 5 and 10km event in the grounds of Kedleston Hall. After 5 years of organising and leading that event, they were presented with a Community Award in the annual Sports Awards at Derby City Hall, as recognition of their efforts.

Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2024, and had surgery the following month. In typical fashion, she returned to the group after an enforced 8 week break, and continues to lead the Jog Duffield sessions with her usual positivity, despite the programme of radiotherapy still ahead of her in March.
She has been an inspiration for the group, and in her honour more than 40 of the current cohort of runners have decided to run this year's Derby 10k to raise funds for Breast Cancer Now.
